Right on the heels of Arts District Brewing opening last month, Iron Triangle Brewing officially opened its doors for business this past weekend, hosting a 1940s themed party that beckoned beer fans to Industrial Street in the Downtown Arts District. A ragtime band, the California Feetwarmers, performed as people milled around the massive, split-level space. With a 16-tap bar on one side and a sunken, picnic table-clad drinking area on another, Iron Triangle is one of LA's larger breweries at 10,000 square feet—with plans to grow even further into the warehouse next door.
Owner Nathan Cole Pacetti—who carried around a silver chalice during the party because, why not?—designed a good portion of the space, including the black cherrywood bar. But it's Darren Moser (Maui Brewing Co.) who is making the good stuff. During the grand opening, seven of Moser's beers were on tap—we would have liked to try all of them, but unfortunately flights weren't being offered. Iron Triangle Ale is the brewery's signature brew, slightly sweet and easy to drink at 4.8% ABV. We really liked the 1581 Pale Ale, which uses the Jarrylo hop to lend spicy, fruity notes, along with the bold Land of Fire Red IPA. All 16-ounce pours are $7. Other beers include Iron Triangle IPA, Iron Triangle Dark Ale, Mulholland's Stash Barleywine and Bindlestiff Stout.
With Iron Triangle's opening, the Arts District is growing into a veritable craft beer hub. Newcomers Arts District Brewing and Mumford Brewing have joined Downtown staple Angel City Brewery, and Boomtown Brewery is working on permit issues to hopefully open soon. Coupled with a few fantastic beer bars in the area, the neighborhood is a beer lovers dream. Now, if only it were easier to find a parking spot.
