You read that right. This Friday evening at 8pm, bring yourself and your lightsaber (any Jedi worth his weight in nova crystals should have one) to Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles for an epic battle and brewhaha.
Newmindspace and Lightsaber Academy (more on them below) present Lightsaber Battle LA 2015, a chance to "pick a side of the force and use that venerable, ancient, glowing tool" in the "ultimate nocturnal showdown." Previous battles, including ones in New York and Toronto, have drawn more than 2,000 warriors, and the LA event is expected to bring in even more.
Participants will gather around 8pm to enjoy a DJ, food truck and temporary bar provided by Pershing Square, and at 9pm will split into two camps, Jedi and Sith—then, the battle begins. Feeling a little insecure about your sweet, sweet lightsaber skills? All day Friday, Lightsaber Academy—a dedicated group of lightsaber trainers and battle organizers—will be hosting professional lightsaber demonstrations.
Whether you win or lose, you're guaranteed a good time with a bunch of like-minded nerds; you're also guaranteed an after party (time and location TBD). Or, have an after party of your own at one of these bars offering Star Wars-inspired cocktails. The event is free and open to all ages—feel free to dress/act the part! And, of course, MTFBWY.
