Obamajam and El Niño might make a traffic baby tonight

President Obama arrives in Los Angeles tonight for his usual fare of Hollywood fundraising and crippling traffic jams. The inevitable Obamajams his trips bring have been a way of life for Angelenos over the past few years, with POTUS making frequent road-closing visits to our fair city. We’ve also had a semi-active El Niño cycle this year, which has produced a fair amount of slick roads and poor driving conditions. And now tonight those two traffic-making events are looming on the horizon as the perfect storm of inconvenience. Rain showers are expected to start this afternoon and continue, on-and-off, throughout Obama’s visit tonight and tomorrow. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing, however. Instead of bemoaning a potential two hour commute, we should use this opportunity to get out of any cross-town engagements we’ve been dreading.

Luckily, this presidential visit should be relatively low-impact compared to previous trips, as Obama will mostly be getting around town during off-peak hours. To avoid the commotion altogether though, check out these closures and delays as reported by the LAPD:
