Good news for all the wine lovers out there: a new wine bar is popping up on Melrose next week and—get this—it's actually pretty friendly on your wallet.

The number of standout wine bars in LA is steadily growing, but at the end of the night, a couple glasses of fine wine and a cheese plate can cut heavily into your paycheck. POCO Wine Bar, which opens inside the west dining room of Spanish restaurant smoke.oil.salt on August 1, is looking to serve quality varietals for every budget. A wine list from smoke.oil.salt's managing partner and wine director Stephen Gelber will feature one white wine at $5, one red at $6 and one sparkling at $7, along with sangria for $4 per glass and $7 per pitcher. The tapas portion of the menu is quite affordable as well: papas bravas for $6, short rib crostini for $7, scallop brochetas for $8 and more.

Once a month, POCO Wine Socials will feature events like women's only wine nights, tastings led by LA's top sommeliers, industry nights and educational classes. Open from Sunday to Thursday, 5:30-11pm, it's a great place to stop before heading out to another restaurant on Melrose—or even before dining at smoke.oil.salt next door. But do we really need to convince you? POCO, you had us at $5 wine.
