Not a weekend goes by without Angelenos wondering why those incessant choppers were hovering overhead, but it's not everyday that this is the explanation: a helicopter hoisting a glass slide atop a Downtown skyscraper.

Skyslide, a glass slide attached to the side of the US Bank Tower, was airlifted onto the tower's 69th floor on Saturday. The slide, which will be suspended 1,000 feet above the ground, was delivered in preparation for its June 25 opening.

As a quick refresher: The not-for-acrophobics attraction will send visitors down a chute of clear glass from the US Bank Tower's 70th floor down to the 69th as part of the open-air OUE Skyspace LA observation deck. Timed tickets are available now for the observation deck ($25) and Skyslide (an extra $8).

Follow the glass slide's journey up the US Bank Tower with these photos and videos below.
