Taco emoji is coming soon with Apple iOS 9.1 update

At long last, the taco gods have listened to our prayers. Apple recently released a beta version of iOS 9.1 to members of the Apple Developer Program, and while none of us commoners have access to it yet, and we know very little about the exact contents of the beta, what we do know is extremely important—even life-changing: there is a taco emoji, and at some point we will be able to use it.

A picture showing all the new emoji was first picked up by The Next Web, and boy do they look beautiful. We've actually known that the taco emoji was happening since mid-June, but now it's so close to being usable, we can taste it (it's delicious, by the way). Also, if you feel like the emoji looks suspiciously like a Taco Bell taco, that's probably because the fast food chain started the change.org petition that instigated the whole taco emoji-craze in the first place. Now if only someone could start a petition for a Choco Taco emoji (You listening, Klondike?).

But wait—that's not all. The new emoji selection will also include a wedge of Swiss cheese, an adorable, non-menacing lion, a burrito to pair with your taco, a unicorn and more. Maybe you don't subscribe to our passion for emoji? And maybe you also don't have a soul.

iOS9 is expected to be available to the public starting September 16.
