Some talents just happen to inspire more awe than others. Whistling through your fingers, for example. Tying a cherry stem into a knot with your tongue (rawr). Creating a replica of the Eiffel Tower with latte foam.

If latte art is your chosen calling, now's your chance to receive local acclaim. On August 30 (tomorrow!), LAMILL Coffee in Silver Lake is hosting its first Latte Art Throwdown. Anyone can sign up—baristas, coffee enthusiasts, foam whisperers—as long as you bring your A-game. Sign ups are at 7pm with a $5 buy-in, and the competition starts at 7:30pm.

So what does the next prodigy of latte art win? There are goodies for those who snag 1st through 6th place, with a top prize that includes a slew of swag from a Hario Copper Gooseneck Kettle to a Baratza Virtuoso Grinder. If you're just attending to watch, though, a raffle will also be offered; bystanders can win Firestone Brewery gear, milk steaming pitchers, filters and more. Of course, you'll by expected to cheer on the competitors, though, what that means in a latte art competition, we're not sure—maybe finger snaps?
