If you were sitting in your office on Tuesday afternoon and heard an odd rumbling sound coming from the street below, that wasn't an earthquake (that we know of, anyway). It was the sound of hundreds of local skaters out on the town to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day.

As we learned from KTLA, an estimated 300 people turned out for the Critical Mass-like gathering in DTLA alone. Similar events and celebrations have been taking place around the world since 2004.

Go Skateboarding Day was started by the International Association of Skateboard Companies as a chance to, "Celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world by blowing off all other obligations to go skateboarding."

Just in case you didn't get a chance to pop your head out the window in time to see the four-wheeled brigade rolling past, we found a few of the best videos and photos of today's happenings.
