Nintendo is gearing up for next month's E3 and it's decided to pull out its "only '90s kids" card with the revival of the Nintendo World Championships. We haven't seen the national video game competition since 1990; it'll be landing here in LA for a final round at the Nokia Theatre on June 14.

A quick refresher: The 29 city tour pitted gamers in a timed, point-based competition through Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer and Tetris that was practically pulled straight from the Fred Savage-fronted, "I love the Power Glove, it's so bad" film The Wizard. Though Nintendo hasn't announced yet which games, retro or modern, will be included in the latest championship, we'll keep our fingers crossed for the bongo drum-controlled Donkey Konga and those blindingly red Virtual Boy games.

You can enter the competition at select Best Buy stores on May 30. Winners will compete in LA during the finals at the Nokia Theatre—expect it to look something like the Smash Smash Bros. tournament the company held there last year. Nintendo released this trailer to announce the event, but we're far more interested in this recap of the 1990 edition.
