These Aussie reporters just can't wrap their heads around LA's Guerrilla Tacos

Taco trailblazer and gracious interviewee Wes Avila recently appeared on a cooking segment for Studio 10, a morning talk show in Sydney, Australia, to feature his unique brand of LA tacos. The mastermind behind Guerrilla Tacos chatted with hosts Sarah Harris and Jessica Rowe as he cooked up some of his signature tacos live.

There are plenty of chuckle moments as Rowe pondered Avila’s diverse assortment of ingredients (and absence of guacamole), but the segment’s most memorable question arrived when Harris jumped in with, “Wes, can I interrupt you for a bit?” she asked. “Bit of a controversy at the moment—soft shell tortillas…really?” She then followed up, in complete seriousness, “What about the hard shell?” To his credit, Avila handled the misguided question like a pro as he gently explained soft shell is how we make the Mexican staple in LA—he even plugged their handmade heritage in Boyle Heights. Sure the hard shell/soft shell debate has raged on for decades in Taco Bells across the nation, but here in LA there’s only one way to make a tortilla. We commend Wes for his undying patience and were tickled to see the reporter's face light up with joy as she took her first bite from one of LA’s best tacos.
