Tuesday's rainy Los Angeles commute in photos

In case you somehow missed it, Los Angeles was hit by a rainstorm this morning. Some spots were hit harder than others, but Mother Nature wreaked havoc on morning commutes all over the city (have you seen all those screenshots of Google maps going around?).

A couple of things to clear up in case anyone is confused: yes, we are in a terrible drought, and, no, one rainstorm doesn't mean it's over. And if you thought the heat wave was done, it's not—expect temperatures to get back into the 90s by Sunday.

But not all of the complaints have been trivial. According to the Los Angeles Times, 150 residents were evacuated from an assisted living home in West Hollywood after the roof began leaking and water was getting into light fixtures. Three people and a dog were rescued from the LA River this morning in Long Beach. The Los Angeles Fire Department has also been very busy with multiple rescues taking place from the rapidly growing river. And the highways were in disarray as well: the California Highway patrol reported 572 crashes between 4 a.m. and noon, whereas yesterday there were 267.

In fact, Downtown LA was reportedly soaked in a total 2.35 inches of rain, making today our city's wettest day of the year so far. Opids Camp and UCLA were hit the hardest, collecting 2.64 and 2.62 inches of water respectively.

But at this point we're all (hopefully) safe indoors, free from torrential downpours, so tell someone you love them and check out these pictures from around Los Angeles this morning:
