Union Station, Downtown LA's aesthetically exquisite train terminal, has become a surprising hub of creativity in recent years. From pop-up opera Invisible Cities to dublab's sound installations, the stately space has morphed into more than just a place to catch a train (or raise a pint).

This summer, Union Station will host its first seasonal entertainment series with a trio of free after-hours experiences in its outdoor gardens.

The centerpiece will be a free concert series on Saturday nights, which pairs up-and-coming acts and DJs on its bill. Hopefully someone can coin a catchier name because the current one is a mouthful: Live Nation’s Ones To Watch & KROQ Locals Only Presents Summer Concerts At Union Station. The series begins July 2 and runs through Labor Day weekend from 7 to 10pm; here's a look at the schedule below:

July 2 –  Michael Leier, Bloodboy, Figs Vision, Grant Owens
July 9th – DYAN, The Brinks
Aug 6th – Sam Fischer
August 13th – Salt Petal
August 20th – Lauv, Pretty Sister

The station's south patio will also house Union Station 360°, an immersive projection sphere and "Floating Sky Screen." The video installation is being curated by local experiential design firm the Hettema Group, who've tapped filmmakers and digital artists for a series of vignettes. Union Station's entry arches will become a 30-foot-high, projection-mapped palette for art videos, while the translucent "Floating Sky Screen" will cover the garden in a canopy of airy LA imagery. The installation is open July 15 through 24 (except for July 18) from 8pm until midnight.

Finally, From August 6 through 31 the station’s grand waiting room will house Cabinet of Curiosities, a collection of mysterious worlds designed by local artists that are only viewable through peepholes.
