Miracle Mile's mothballed automotive museum is ready to show off more than just its swanky silver and red facade. The institution announced today that after a 13-month, $125 million makeover, it's ready to open its doors to the public.

The Petersen Automotive Museum will reopen on December 7 at 10am. Adult admission now costs $15, just a couple of dollars more than before the 21-year-old museum closed for renovation.

In addition to the public opening, the museum will host a $1,500-per-ticket gala on December 5, as well as a preview day on December 6 with an open bar on the rooftop, food by the Drago brothers and a DJ set by Jason Bentley—all for $200.

The museum has shed its Welton Becket-built department store facade and put up an amorphous, futuristic warehouse in its place. That same focus on technology will make its way inside, too, with interactive tie-ins to the Cars film series and Forza video games. Tablets will replace static plaques in many areas of the museum's three themed floors, devoted to the history, industry and art of the automobile. In addition, the basement vault, which holds the Petersen's off-display cars, will open for tours in January 2016.
