NerdMelt Showroom

Since opening in the back of Meltdown Comics in 2011, NerdMelt Showroom—the lovechild of Meltdown, the Nerdist's Chris Hardwick and Nerdist Industries—has become one of the best spots in LA to catch live comedy. The Wednesday night Meltdown shows, hosted by Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani, are a must for anyone looking for belly-laugh-funny from both up-and-coming and established comedians. Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari and Robin Williams are among those who've turned up for the weekly gig.

This is also our pick for the best place to attend a live podcast recording. Although stand-up is performed here, NerdMelt is well suited for nontraditional comedy. Shows such as Harmontown, Risk!, and Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend have recorded at NerdMelt, and the theater is continuously adding new podcasts. So go get your nerd on.

NerdMelt Showroom is a wonderful hidden gem & a great place to see comedy. They have shows ranging from free to $10 & in most cases, the performers range from talented newcomers to seasoned veterans that you've definitely seen before in TV & movies. I've been here a few times for Chris Hardwick's Beta Test shows (free!) and have been lucky enough to catch TJ Miller, David Koechner, & more. Check their calendar and even if you don't see a familiar name, take a chance on a show. You will probably be pleasantly surprised by whatever you see.

I went to the NerdMelt Showroom see a podcast recording of Dan Harmon's, HarmonTown. The show tapes every Sunday at 8p and tickets are $10. It's a great show to catch if you love improv, comedy, and random rants by Dan. I suggest getting there early to stand in line so you can grab a good seat. They don't serve alcohol but it's BYOB!
