Catalina Film Festival

Mingle with the who's who of Hollywood at a mini island getaway off the California coast. This annual film festival takes over Catalina for five days of parties, awards and screenings of new features, shorts, docs and student films—many of which will be held at the island's art deco Avalon Theatre. Highlights include the gal pal road trip comedy Ass Backwards, a screening of True Romance to pay tribute to Tony Scott, a 25th anniversary screening of Little Mermaid on the beach and a swanky Friday night Gatsby Gala party cruise (one of the benefits of the fest's location). The stars of the show will be Jon Favreau, receiving the Charlie Chaplin Icon Award, and Sharon Stone, who'll be receiving the Stanley Kramer Social Artist Award.
