LACMA9 Shorts Program

Let your imagination run wild at this screening of fanciful and critically acclaimed short films. The lineup includes: Daybreak Express (1953), Olivia's Place (1966), Kristallnacht (1979)and the newly restored French Criterion classic Red Balloon (1956). You'll find yourself speeding through NYC on a train, waxing nostalgic for a Santa Monica diner, and more. The most recent offering, The Sound We See: A Los Angeles City Symphony (2010), was created by the Echo Park Film Center and showcases the sights and sounds of LA's landscapes in black and white. See the diverse collection of shorts for free at Monterey Park's East Los Angeles College (1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez) as part of LACMA's off-site Art + Film Lab. The screening will take place in the school's Performing and Fine Arts Center's recital hall.
