Greek mythology's most romantic hero makes his way to the Getty Villa for a Friday night screening under the stars. In this 1950 film, director Jean Cocteau combines the Orpheus-Eurydice legend with visual tropes he’d developed decades earlier in films like Blood of a Poet to pull off the near-impossible, creating a blatant allegory that’s also immensely entertaining as a narrative. Take in the classic film while sipping Kir Royal cocktails, specially crafted to complement the evening's entertainment. A selection of choice edibles, including gourmet boxed meals and fresh-popped popcorn, will also be avilable at the Getty Villa Café. Tickets to the screening are $7, and parking is an extra $10.
