Time Out says

American Cinematheque’s “Out On A Limb: A Tribute To Nicholas Cage” series begins the first of three nights with Werner Herzog’s 2009 crime drama The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Herzog’s direction is typically gutsy and Cage, in an unhinged and manic performance, dazzles as the titular character – corrupt policeman Terence McDonagh. A screening of Alan Parker’s 1984 war retrospective Birdy, co-starring Cage and Matthew Modine, will follow after a short intermission. Cage fans, think twice before leaving early: the actor, and director Herzog will be present for a discussion after the screenings. Tickets ($11 each) will be open to the public on March 26th, but American Cinematheque members will get first dibs.
