This heartwarming Tribeca Film Festival favorite finally hits the big screen in the US. TheRocket tells the story of Ahlo, an adorable little boy from Laos, who is accused of being cursed and gets blamed for all of his village's bad luck. Desperate to prove everybody wrong, he decides to build a huge explosive rocket and enter the dangerous Rocket Festival with the help of Purple, a James Brown fanatic he meets along the way. The film was gathering Oscar buzz but was just snubbed in the Foreign Language Film competition. Nevertheless, Sitthiphon Disamoe—a former street kidwho plays Ahlo—makes the movie irresistible. It will be playing for one week at the Nuart.
