Time Out says

5 out of 5 stars

The Hotel Bel-Air Spa may just prove once and for all that nature and nurture can coexist in equal measure. Set deep within the iconic hotel’s woodsy Bel-Air canyon setting, the spa evokes a tranquil indoor-outdoor vibe with lily pad–like sculptures and handpainted florets on the walls. There are no trashy magazines in site in the relaxation lounge—just velvety lounge chairs, warm woodwork, dappled light, cashmere throws and a collection of pretty picture books on nature, travel and fashion. There’s also the Enclave, a ginormous private treatment suite (hello, couples!) with its own plumeria-studded outdoor patio. The nurture quotient here is evident in the spa’s chic nail salon (with individual mani-pedi pods), the his-and-hers locker and steam rooms stocked with the Swiss company's luxe skin products, and the seven treatment rooms. Each features warm, waterbed-style pads on the tables, temperature controls to keep you cozy and a variety of music choices (from R&B and classical playlists to nature sounds and string instruments composed with feng shui in mind). You may be tempted to splurge on the White Caviar Illuminating Facial ($1,000/90 mins) said to brighten complexions, hands and feet. But we think you’ll be just as pleased with a La Prairie Signature Facial ($210/60 mins; or $270/90 mins) in which the therapist first examines your skin under magnified light to determine the best course of action. What follows is a relaxing and yet thoroughly nourishing series of hydrating potions, warm steam, extractions, exfoliation, a cleansing mask, gentle massage, deep moisturizing and so much pampering your face will feel soft as butter. The prices are steep, but you can expect a world-class facial in one of the prettiest spa settings in all of LA.

Skip out on the same, old aromatherapy treatments and opt for vinotherapy. The luxe spa now pairs La Prairie products with Estancia wines to create unqiue vinotherapy treatments. Exclusive to the Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie, the best of both worlds (that being wine and spa, of course) collide, with treatments created by spa director, Helen Storer and inspired by the anti-aging effects of wine. Opt for one of the four wine-based treatments—from a mani/pedi or body scrub, to a facial with a collagen-rich grape seed mask while getting your hands and feet scrubbed with a Pinot Noir infused scrub, or the Estancia Vinomassage with pure grape seed oil and a glass of Pinot Noir or Chardonnay to end the indulgent treatment.
