Time Out says

This sparkling property hasn't been solely responsible for the regeneration of Manhattan Beach, but its influence has been huge. It's a small property but perfectly formed: slick yet approachable, stylish yet not without a sense of humor. The 38 guest rooms make great use of the space: Multi-purpose tables can be rolled back and forth over the beds for breakfast or for use as a desk, while all rooms have vast spa-baths, DVD players and color-adjustable chromatherapy lighting. Downstairs is a big central courtyard and the slick Zinc lounge; upstairs is the handsome Skydeck, complete with a bijou pool. If you stay in the penthouse suite, you'll won't need either—it has a beer tap in its kitchenette. An impressive spot indeed.

Neighborhood: Though it’s more upscale than neighboring Hermosa or Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach is still a beach town at heart. On any given Saturday, you’ll spot sand-covered kids trekking up the sidewalk in search of ice cream, surfers unloading their boards by the side of the road and tourists having impromptu photoshoots on the pier.

Nearby:
Manhattan Beach Post: For a boozy brunch and legendary bacon-cheddar biscuits
BrewCo: For its extensive selection of local suds on tap
Manhattan Beach Pier: For peaceful strolls and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean

Time Out tip: After you’ve sated your need for sand and sun, explore the rest of Manhattan Beach’s charming downtown area. High-end chains like Free People and Lorna Jane Activewear sit alongside local bookstores, boutiques and art galleries.
