Time Out says

Mark 50 years since Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon with a program of lunar film clips, accompanied by the LA Phil. “America in Space” mixes real-life space history with some cinematic reimaginings; watch scenes from flicks like Hidden Figures, First Man, Gravity, Apollo 13 and The Martian in addition to archival footage. The performance features the West Coast premiere of Michael Giacchino’s “Advent,” which was commissioned to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing, as well as a tribute to NASA’s women astronauts with selectinos by Gustav Holst, Justin Hurwitz, Aaron Copland, Harry Gregson-Williams and Penka Kouneva. To add a bit of local flavor, the concert will mark the achievements of Pasadena’s own NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, including some insights from JPL’s Dr. Abigail Fraeman, a planetary scientist and member of the Mars Curiosity rover team.
