Time Out says

Catch a screening of the 1982 film Ashes and Embers at REDCAT, followed by a discussion with the film’s director Haile Gerima, as well as working cinematographer Bradford Young. Gerima was a member the LA Rebellion, a group of black filmmakers who emerged from UCLA in the 1960s—the movement was particularly inspirational for Selma director Ava DuVernay, whose arts collective ARRAY is presenting the screening.

Before the screening, the panelists and ticket holders are invited to visit the Broad, where they'll view artworks relevant to the screenings, including works by El Anatsui, Marlene Dumas, Mark Bradford, Julie Mehretu and others.
