Bootleg HiFi

This 1930's warehouse-turned-theater (complete with an exposed beam ceiling, swoon) hosts performances of all kinds, including music, theater, dance and film. Small indie rock bands and local talent are often on tap here—it's one of the best small music venues on the Eastside—courtesy of The Fold. The theater's owners are steeped in the arts as well, from actors to set designers to welders—it's no wonder they fill Bootleg's calendar with such varied and quality shows.

Small local venues hold a special place in my heart. The Bootleg HIFI is well on it's way to becoming a favorite. I've seen 2 shows here (Kimbra during her residency and Nick Waterhouse) and each show was amazing primarily due to their musical prowess, but also due to the accessibility of the space. Above all I value the intimacy of this venue. Each room really makes you feel like the performer is just there for you. And if you're someone that doesn't feel the need to right in front of the stage, there's plenty of seating and a decently priced bar to keep you occupied. The only negative was the long wait or the bathroom, but that's basically inevitable for a lady in any L.A. venue.  I'm certain the Bootleg will continue to be a venue I frequent for years to come.
