Canada invades the Echo with Chad VanGaalen's maple-smooth bedroom tunes and familiar falsetto. The banjo-picking, brittle-voiced Calgary native has put out five records of melodic alt pop since 2004, including his latest, Shrink Dust—a follow-up to 2011's Diaper Island, which he recorded in his home studio. VanGaalen plays a single LA show June 18.
