This third and final installment of the acclaimed Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's innovative Westside Connection series—which offers a unique look at the connections between music and other art forms—will feature the contributions of bestselling LA author and UCLA professor Mona Simpson. She'll be helping explore the relationship between music and story in a program that features Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47, "Kreutzer," which inspired Tolstoy's novella The Kreutzer Sonata, which in turn inspired the night's other piece, Janáček's String Quartet No. 1, "Kreutzer Sonata." It's a fitting match, since Simpson's 2011 novel, My Hollywood, features a classical composer as the protagonist. Hear the stirring compositions and gain unique insight into the hidden narratives.
