Part punk, part bluegrass, Old Man Markley combines genres as a seven-piece outfit complete with fiddle, autoharp and washboard. They play incredibly energetic, melodic live shows, and although the folk-punk genre is nothing new, Markley does it well and has shared the stage with heavy hitters such as NOFX, Flogging Molly and Reverend Horton Heat. May 16 at the Echo, catch raucous tunes from last year's Down Side Up, as well as the group's brand new 7" single, Stupid Today. Opening is Juan Wauters, lead vocalist from garage-folk band, The Beets.
