Time Out says

In its more than half-century as a Sunset Strip stalwart, the Roxy has been both a major player (hosting early Springsteen and Guns N’ Roses shows) and a disappointing has-been (insert name of horrible ’80s hair band here). But since Coachella promoter Goldenvoice took over the venue in 2014, the Roxy has settled comfortably into middle age with a respectable mix of metal, punk, indie rock and singer-songwriters. The kitty-corner stage means this 500-person venue often feels half the size—and it’s a remarkable setting to see the occasional big-name act scheduled for an underplay (just be prepared for a stiflingly sweaty time during those packed-in shows). The VIP booths are only worthwhile if sitting is imperative, otherwise if you’re concerned about sightlines (the stage is a little low, but the width really helps to keep views open) consider standing a few steps up by the bar.
