Sure, it seems like National [INSERT FOOD ITERM HERE] Days roll around all too often, but to that, we say: We’re all about free food and limited-run collaborations, and who are we to turn down a boozy ice cream sundae? San Francisco’s irreverent ice cream shop Humphry Slocombe gets it, and is blessedly bringing free ice cream sundaes, scotch tastings and cocktails to its Venice shop for National Hot Toddy Day this Friday.

The holiday arrives just in time for the “outrageous” below-60-degrees weather we’ve been having, because this cocktail is one of the all-time greats in cold temps: a whiskey of your choosing, a little honey, some fresh lemon and hot water, and it warms you from the inside, out.

To celebrate the classic concoction, Humphry Slocombe teamed up with Scottish distillery the Glenlivet for a “not-so-dry January” ice cream flavor: Dubbed the Glenlivet, it’s made with 12-year-old single-malt scotch whiskey. Throughout January you can stop by the Venice scoop shop to try the flavor or order it as a Hot Toddy sundae—where it comes decked out with clove caramel and candied lemon—but why not snag it for free?

On Friday, from 6 to 10pm, Humphry Slocombe will be handing out these scoops and sundaes, not to mention a few one-night-only items, like the Founder’s Reserve highball float, which features the special ice cream flavor; the Founder’s Reserve Hot Toddy, for traditionalists; a dark sea salt chocolate pairing with the Glenlivet 18-Year; and the “affogato,” with an ice cream flavor of your choosing plopped into Glenlivet 12-Year.

Considering the hot toddy’s alleged healing properties—it’s rumored to be one of the best drinks to soothe colds and sore throats—attending Friday’s event is practically doing your health a favor. (We’re no doctors, but it sounds good to us.)

Humphry Slocombe is located at 1653B Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and is celebrating National Hot Toddy Day on Friday, January 11, with free ice cream and scotch from 6 to 10pm.
