The Roadhouse bar from 'Twin Peaks' is coming to L.A. this weekend

It is happening again: Showtime thrilled Angelenos with a Double R Diner-themed pop-up shop this fall, but now, the channel behind Twin Peaks’ revival is bringing the Roadhouse—the mysterious town’s seedy, dimly lit watering hole—to the heart of L.A. The show’s sinister counterpart to the cheery diner is taking over Melrose Umbrella Co., and so is its iconography.

Starting this Friday, walk past the gun-shaped glow of the red, blinking “Bang Bang Bar” sign to enter the Roadhouse, where guests can enjoy themed cocktails and small plates—in addition to Mikkeller's Twin Peaks-inspired beer and David Lynch Dom Perignon—in 90-minute intervals from 5pm to midnight. We recommend you go ahead and make your reservations now, which will set you back $25 per res—but fear not, it gets credited to your bill. (Just think of all the cherry pie you could eat with that $25.)

Then beginning December 15, the Roadhouse will open for brunch from Friday to Sunday, slinging a Double R Diner-inspired menu from 11am to 3pm. And because it wouldn’t be a Roadhouse pop-up without live music, you can expect performances, though the lineup’s not yet announced. In case that doesn’t quell your fandom frenzy, expect on-theme holiday parties and events, including cosplay nights, so bring your best biker jackets, plaid skirts and tough looks.

Wondering what to get your friend who has everything and also loves creepy TV? Just in time for the holidays, the space will also include a Red Room gift shop, open Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 10:30pm, for all your Laura Palmer t-shirt needs. (Our gifting pro tip: wrap it in plastic.)

Fans of the show need no reminder that the Roadhouse is noticeably darker in Twin Peaks: The Return than it was in the cult classic’s first two seasons, so let’s hope for more musical acts and slow swaying in this incarnation—à la original depiction—and less drug dealing and pimping, à la the crumbling dive that by and large now belongs to the show’s next generation.

Twin Peaks’ The Roadhouse is popping up in Melrose Umbrella Co.—at 7465 Melrose Avenue—from December 8 to December 30, Wednesday through Sunday. Friday-to-Sunday brunch service begins December 15.
