1. Welcome the Year of the Dog with firecrackers and incense during the Chinese New Year Midnight Temple Ceremony. The festivities begin at 10pm at Chinatown’s Thien Hau Temple and run until after midnight.

2. Partake in an evening that’s part comedy show and part live dating experience during All My Single Friends. The $10 event at the Copper Still starts at 8pm.

3. Listen to Dave Eggers in conversation with Mokhtar Alkhanshali, the subject of Eggers’s newest book about coffee, the American dream and civil war. A limited number of standby spaces will be available one hour prior to the free 7:30pm chat at the Central Library’s Mark Taper Auditorium.
