When KITH first opened its doors in West Hollywood in 2018, it already had a food element: KITH Treats, its cereal-and-ice-cream bar, built into the flagship. Even today, Treats can draw a line of its own, sometimes rivaling the one at the registers. The brand has since doubled down on its culinary ambitions: In 2025, owner Ronnie Fieg opened Ronnie’s, a New York-inspired restaurant adjacent to Kith’s London flagship and this year, Ronnie’s Pronto, a grab-and-go outpost serving casual New York-style fare alongside coffee, matcha and Kith Treats specials, at the WeHo flagship. Today, the trend of stores enticing customers with food to shop IRL or even just to hang out is expanding. Brands are even partnering with specialty outlets to offer clients unique treats and eats, keeping the consumer there long enough to peruse the racks and perhaps even make a purchase. While many of these spots can be found in West Hollywood, where much of L.A.’s retail trends ignite, the trend is certainly catching fire across the city.

Pantry at MadHappy

Madhappy launched in Los Angeles in 2017, initially building a cult following around its optimistic message and covetable hoodies and sweats. After years of pop-ups around the city, the brand opened its first permanent flagship on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood in 2023—with PANTRY, its café concept, opening alongside it. Today, the café inside the store serves coffee, tea, pastries and ready-made goods, with L.A. favorites including Courage Bagels, Jon & Vinny’s, Beverly Hills Juice and Bianca among its collaborators. The concept has since expanded beyond West Hollywood, including a recent Malibu outpost, making PANTRY an increasingly integral part of the Madhappy retail experience.

Amie Leon Dore

New York-based fashion label Aimé Leon Dore brought its distinctly nostalgic, New York-meets-Mediterranean aesthetic to LA this spring with its first West Coast flagship on Melrose Avenue. The sprawling, meticulously designed space pairs the brand’s signature menswear and lifestyle offerings with Café Leon Dore, a Greek-inspired coffee shop serving frothy freddo espresso and cappuccino, Greek coffee, pastries, yogurt, and light bites. There’s also a leafy outdoor courtyard, making this as much a place to linger over coffee as it is to shop. It’s a good example of a boutique that people may go to for coffee first and a T-shirt later.

Side Kitchen at James Perse

Los Angeles-born James Perse has long sold a distinctly California version of luxury—soft basics, minimalist design and an easy indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The brand has now extended that ethos into food with Side Kitchen, its café concept at Robertson House, the brand’s L.A. flagship on Robertson Boulevard. Opened in 2025, the café serves coffee, matcha, pastries and an all-day menu ranging from avocado toast and breakfast burritos to rice bowls, bringing the James Perse lifestyle beyond the clothing rack. The menu is decidedly L.A., with elevated takes on familiar café staples served within the brand’s minimalist California-cool retail setting.

Mother Beverly Hills

Denim brand Mother recently opened its first-ever flagship. Inside, guests are treated to retro denim with a side of matcha. Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, the store’s café serves matcha, coffee and light bites, giving shoppers a reason to linger beyond the racks of Mother’s signature jeans. It’s a fitting extension of the L.A.-born brand, where laid-back denim and a good coffee run go hand in hand.

Rose Bakery at Dover Street Market

Tucked inside Dover Street Market, a fashion concept store/retailer founded by Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe, Rose Bakery offers a welcome pause from shopping with coffee, pastries and a rotating menu of seasonal, vegetable-forward dishes. The understated Arts District café also has outdoor seating, making it a nice spot to linger before or after browsing the multi-brand fashion mecca with multiple designer spaces, installations and more.

Sporty & Rich

What began as an Instagram mood board before evolving into a print magazine and eventually a lifestyle brand, Sporty & Rich (founded by Emily Oberg) brought its old-school Americana aesthetic to LA with its first permanent West Coast flagship in WeHo. The shop features vintage-inspired sportswear in addition to a cafe serving up soft serve in an ice cream parlor-esque setting. Making it easy to grab a cone alongside a new sweatshirt (or the other way around, as a cone is a more affordable entry into the lifestyle), the cafe, which also serves coffee, is the Sporty & Rich aesthetic in edible form—part country club chic, part retro diner with a decidedly LA sensibility.

Broome St. General Store

Part neighborhood café, part general store, Broome St. General Store at Platform is an easy place to grab a coffee while browsing for gifts. The shop stocks a mix of home goods, apothecary, fragrance, books, pantry items and other little finds, while the café serves espresso, pastries and sandwiches. Whether you’re looking for a last-minute host gift or simply want to browse with a coffee in hand, it’s a low-key shopping stop that makes it easy to linger. The Culver City outpost, which opened this summer, is the brand’s second café location after its original Silver Lake flagship, giving the concept a Westside home without losing its cozy neighborhood-store feel.

Goodboybob at Deus Ex Machina

Venice’s Deus Ex Machina “Temple” flagship recently added a full Goodboybob coffee program, bringing the Santa Monica-based specialty coffee roaster into the mix at a space where motorcycles, surfing, art, design and culture come together under one roof. Located on the side of the shop that opens up to the back courtyard, expect communal tables and the signature ’Nilla Latte with housemade vanilla-bean syrup. With all its elements and the addition of a specialty coffee roaster, Deus Ex Machina essentially captures the energy of Venice.

Concierge Coffee at Departamento

At first glance, this under-the-radar spot looks like a minimalist coffee shop. Look a little closer—or follow the mirrored hallway—and you’ll discover Departamento, the highly curated menswear boutique behind Concierge Coffee. The Berlin-born coffee shop serves espresso, matcha, pastries and its signature Einspänner, while the courtyard offers a relaxed place to linger. Window-shop (or really shop) the artfully displayed men’s designer wear—think The Row, Junya Watanabe and other hard-to-find labels—with a latte in hand.

Fast Times at Buck Mason

As part of Palisades Village’s reopening following the Palisades fire, Buck Mason opened its new women’s store in September, bringing its Fast Times coffee concept to the neighborhood. The Palisades location is the fourth Fast Times coffee shop inside a Buck Mason store, following locations at the brand’s Abbot Kinney, Nashville and SoHo stores. The space pairs the women’s collection with the coffee bar and a vintage bookstore stocked with art, architecture and other design-focused books, creating a relaxed, neighborhood-style destination that feels as much like a place to linger as it does a retail store.
