Fighting the brunch crowds at Blu Jam Café, which has locations in Sherman Oaks, Hollywood and Woodland Hills, requires a special kind of patience. But with eggs Benedict that makes your shoulders slump with happiness and crunchy French toast that is hard to top, it's well worth the wait. Fantastic service adds a neighborhood feel to the chain, which opened its Melrose location in 2006.

It's a bit hip, a bit muted, slightly overpriced and there's guaranteed to be a line for brunch at the weekends but, to me, that just confirms it's spot as one of LA's best breakfasts. The menu is wide and varied with food for both the health conscious vegan and the primed carnivore. The coffee is good, the staff are polite and friendly and there's a reason their french toast is known far and wide. There are a few better places out there for the foodies and for those watching their wallets but, overall, Blu Jam is consistently good food in a nice environment. What more could you ask for?

This place is my jam! Was in LA for a few days and happened to be visiting over the weekend which means one thing: BRUNCH. This place was the place to be. Heard that it gets crowded in the late morning, so went right when they opened, and even then there was a line outside. It was warranted too! We had the steak hash and the famous crunchy french toast and both were delicious! Steak, potatoes, poached eggs. I mean, for this gal, that's all I need. Savory, hearty, rich. It really made for a great start of the day. The crunchy french toast was a great end to the meal as well. I usually get one savory and one sweet so I feel like I have dessert too. This french toast was coated in frosted flakes and came with a sweet cereal milk? dipping cream that was soooooo good. We were dunking that toast in and having it soak up as much as possible. It was a great brunch meal!
