Can’t resist a fresh plate of oysters? Neither can owner and master ecailler of The Oyster Gourmet, Christophe Happillon, who’s curating a mouth-watering tasting this October at The DTLA Oyster Festival. Slurp your way through briny selections from state-wide oyster farms like Rock Harbor Oysters of Cape Cod, Hama Hama of Washington State (open since 1922) and Sol Azul Seafarms of Baja California. Meet the farmers, score plenty of oysters, pour yourself French wine and get your hands dirty with a free Oyster Shucking 101 workshop led by Happillon at 3pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Two additional ticketed classes are new this year: a guided oyster tasting on Saturday at 6pm, and a wine and oyster pairing on Sunday at 6pm (both are $20).
