Regardless of how you feel about Duff and/or consuming cake (we all know us Angelinos are afraid of gluten and sugar), Duff's is a relatively hidden and unknown gem in terms of enjoyable, LA activities. I'd highly recommend Duff's for date night, a birthday party, and/or a weekend when you're bored.

My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary and called ahead to reserve a spot in the "create-your-own-cake" area (who knows if that's the official name). We chose a theme, colors, flavors, and toppers and received a pretty healthy amount of assistance from the Duff employee assigned to our non-artistic asses. What's great about Duff's is that the employees are HIGHLY creative and talented people and will do their best to transform your disaster into a work of art, despite your best efforts. My girlfriend and I designed a beach, complete with icing waves and fondant sand (and a surfer on top). I wish I could find the photo of our masterpiece, but it did look fantastic.

Artwork aside, the cake's ingredients will be high quality and delicious. We, of course, photographed the cake roughly 10,000 times, posted to Instagram, and then went to town. Although I'm not a huge frosting fan, I'd give the cake itself an A+, especially considering I had been staring at a cake for hours (and not eating it).

Show your lady or gentleman friend that your LA activity game is on point and you can generate an idea other than dinner and a movie.
