For about the same price, I think it’s safe to say that Ruth’s Chris is a better steakhouse option than Fleming’s. Overall I think it’s a bit outdated as far as the interior (heavy wood – reminds me of a saloon or pub more than a white tablecloth steakhouse). All the steaks at our table came out burnt (which we were told is their signature charring – which I can respect, but a little too overboard for me).
It is a multi-course kind of place - the salads and appetizers were great (we had the carpaccio which was light and tasty) and definitely leave room for the dessert; can’t go wrong with either the carrot cake for the crème brulee.
The one thing that really stood out was that they ran out of dishes so we literally ate dessert with these huge spoons that looked like serving ladles, and one of the hot teas that was ordered came without a lid on the tea pot. It was very unusual!
It was good to try, but I wouldn’t come back here. With the other steakhouses in LA, you can afford to miss this one.
