This small Santa Monica restaurant is dishing out seasonal coastal cuisine, like charred octopus with hummus, cucumber and chickpeas, and spice-crusted tuna crudo. In such tight quarters—seriously, this place is New York-small—you'll be able to watch everything being cooked at the counter, though there are a few tables outside if you'd rather be smelling an ocean breeze.

Hinterland is a small, cozy little restaurant on Main Street that you would miss if you blinked. The food is what you think about when you think of fresh and local California cuisine - seafood tostadas, avocado toast, beet salad, oysters, charcuterie.

Ambiance and service were strong. The food was solid although I did not find anything to be remarkable.
