Pestaurant Pop Up Santa Monica

Calling all adventurous eaters (this isn't for those with sensitive stomachs). It's not often that an exterminator company teams up with a restaurant to host a pop-up. In fact, this could be the first one in the books. Just in time for Halloween, Western Exterminator Company and Mondo Taco are hosting a temporary "Pestaurant" (2200 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica) serving up crunchy crawlers as the star of dishes both savory and sweet. Think "Rice Cricket Treats," “Thai Mai Mealworm Salad,” and “Deep South BBQ Beetle Tacos.” While the concept may be jarring, the purpose is to show that bugs can be a "low-impact, sustainable and nutritious protein alternative." For each dish sampled, the Western Exterminator will donate $1 to the Westside Food Bank with a goal of donating at minimum $3,000. Bon appetit.
