You won’t be able to find a Royale with Cheese, but Fat Sal’s will do you one better this week when it transforms into another iconic Pulp Fiction moment: The slinger of stacked-high sandwiches is dressing up as the Big Kahuna Burger for Halloween.
The two-day makeover means you’ll be able to walk into Fat Sal’s Hollywood location and find Jules Winnfield-approved burgers and shakes (probably with Sam Jackson’s “Mm-hmm, this is a tasty burger!” line ringing in your ears).
The pop-up, slated for October 30 and 31, involves a few Big Kahuna specials, including the Big Kahuna cheeseburger with grilled pineapple, jalapeño slaw, chicken fingers, teriyaki glaze and Fat Sal’s signature sauce; the Fat Luau sandwich, piled with coconut shrimp, grilled spam, fried rice, spring rolls and macaroni salad; loco moco sweet potato fries smothered with spam, gravy and fried egg; and a vanilla, pineapple and coconut-cake milkshake.
If you’ve got a stealthily concealed gold watch you’d like to sell, head next door to the pawn shop, which Fat Sal’s is also recreating for the pop-up. Maybe just avoid any basements you stumble upon.
