Rice Bar opened in the heart of Downtown LA, serving traditional Filipino rice bowls in a DIY format: choose your rice, then your ulam (flavor), followed by sarsa (condiments). The rice selections come from both the Philippines and Thailand, and you can choose from a wide selection of meats: pork longganisa, chicken tinola, bistek tagalog and more. True to its name, there's a small bar to sit at, but you may have to take your bowl on the road if the tiny space is already packed. Pro tip: grab a homemade rice krispie before you leave.

Yummy! A casual staple in dtla and so glad I had a chance to finally try it! RiceBar is a great casual Filipino restaurant with a simple menu and classic dishes.
This place is small and not so much of a sit and dine unless you're up for a close encounter with other patrons. My friend and I ended up sitting outside on the bar stools along 7th street which was a very SE Asian experience!

I tried hard to get excited about this place, but I guess it's just not for me. Everyone here, from the cashier to the kitchen staff, is wonderful and friendly, and I'm in love with the iced buko for dessert - but the rice bowls just don't leave much an impression. I've tried their noodles, too, thick udon strands that became extremely mushy halfway through the bowl. I do enjoy their pork, but the only thing I'll be returning for is that buko.
