Japanese milk-bread sandwiches are all the rage right now, and while most Angelenos swear by the sandos at Orsa & Winston and Konbi, a new player is entering the game: For one night only, Shibumi chef David Schlosser is serving his take, and you can expect some stacks of unique ingredients (and at a great price).
Find Schlosser's sando pop-up from 6 to 8pm within ceramics pop-up shop Shoshi’s General Store, in Little Tokyo at 341 E 1st St. This is where you can snag two varieties of Japanese sandwiches: the tsukune (Japanese chicken meatballs), featuring with cannabis branch, and the hoshigaki, made of dried persimmon. Just be sure to get there fast; only 30 sandwiches of each variety will be available.
Each sando only costs $5, and comes served with a cup of mugicha (barley tea)—not to mention some eye candy. Wander the rows of Shoshi Watanabe's artful ceramics and try not to buy everything in sight, we dare you.
