We can't think of a better spot for a pick-me-up than the beautiful old boathouse on Echo Park Lake, the East side's newest prize park jewel. Hollywood's popular all-day breakfast destination lands waterside, where you can expect the same morning favorites round the clock—standouts include the breakfast sando ($4.25); potato taquitos served with guacamole, tomatillo salsa and cabbage slaw ($4); and chorizo chili and cheddar cheese ($5.75). In the mood for dessert? Grab a house-made sweet to-go before hopping on a pedal boat. The tasty espresso and pour-over here comes from Intelligentsia beans, though if you're not into coffee, you can try homemade lemonades and hot or cold-brewed teas.

I don't even like grits that much, and every Sunday morning I find myself craving the grits at Square One at the Boathouse. They're mixed in with so much butter that my heart is like, What are you doing to me, but I don't even care. A tomato puree and a poached egg are mixed in as well - it's seriously one of my favorite breakfast dishes in the city. I love the fact that you can stop by for a coffee and something to eat, then spend the next hour just leisurely watching paddle boats go by on Echo Park Lake.
