The Purple Palm restaurant and bar was inspired by the original owner of the Colony Palms hotel, Al Wertheimer—a Detroit-born bootlegger. The Palm was a desert-outpost clubhouse for Wertheimer and his cronies. These days, you can eat and drink by the pool all day, with a special sunset menu from 3 to 6pm. The food is sources from local, organic farms, which means the menu is full of fresh, seasonal options. The cocktail list pays homage to the venue's beginnings with classic libations and funny names: try the vodka-grapefruit Doll Squad or the grape-forward Purple Gang.
