Umamicastessen, located in Downtown's Fashion District, is a sprawl both in space and conceit. Several different stations flank the dining room: there's Umami, of course, and its beloved burgers; the Cure, a take on the Jewish Kosher deli with a very good pastrami sandwich; PIGG, with its modern, vertical version of a butcher's shop window and impressive list of charcuterie from around the globe; and tucked away in the back is specialty coffee stalwart Spring for Coffee. While each menu may stand well on its own, collectively it's a bit of an overkill—just because you can order from several pork-centric menus, doesn't mean you should. Ideally, a vegetable option would have been a nice addition; instead, you have And A Doughnut to end.
