The Empty Vase

Time Out says
It’s hard to miss the exterior of this LA institution—it’s covered with massive topiaries of every variety. Inside, the possibilities are endless with the exceptional selection of fresh flowers and the experienced staff’s know-how, garnered from years of crafting spectacular florals for just about everyone in town. Owner Saeed Babaeen started Empty Vase in 1988, and it’s his background in architecture that sets the tone for the company’s aesthetic—bold, luxurious and contemporary. They only do show-stopping here as evidenced by their unparalleled selection of incredibly diverse flowers, exotic plants and hard-to-find seasonal blooms. For those swinging by the West Hollywood destination for a bouquet for others—the store’s lovely selection of gifts, lighting and other home décor items might just mean you’ll be taking something else home for yourself.
At any given day at the Empty Vase, there are metalworkers welding custom frames for larger-than-life topiaries, event coordinators dreaming up special events out of a fantasy novel, designers teaching clients the basics of how to create their own arrangements, and sales staff helping customers browse our bloom bar to curate their own personalized bouquets. There are a lot of moving pieces at Empty Vase, and the energy and passion for the floral arts is palpable upon stepping onto our large corner property. The transformation of Empty Vase from a simple flower-market storefront to a creative artists’ studio with a life of its own has created a culture here based on attention to high quality design and emphasis on the value of personal relationships. Empty Vase is not just another florist – we are a lifestyle.
