When sisters Leah Koch and Bea Hodges-Koch opened the Ripped Bodice a decade ago in Culver City following a successful Kickstarter campaign, it was the very first romance bookstore in the Northern Hemisphere. It was such a hit that, in 2023, they opened a second location in Brooklyn.
