Time Out says

Founded in 1978, LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) is one of the city's most vital alternative spaces, offering a stage for innovative local artmakers (Laurie Anderson, Dan Graham, and Ed Ruscha all honed their crafts here). A wide variety of free or cheap programming consists of teen art workshops, a Salon Series, and, in the case of 2008, a mobile public art project.
