Echo Park's Machine Project is hard to categorize. It's mostly an eductional and event space that hosts everything from scientific talks and poetry readings to ham tastings, naked film screenings and pickling classes. This spring and summer, the eclectic project takes its exploits to Grand Park for a series of free creative installations, including an interactive weather station, "mutant" park furniture and pop-up performances from a wandering theatre group. The hands-on, participatory performance work will beg park-goers to reckon with art in public spaces. Curiosity piqued? Check the Machine Project site for scheduling updates and performance details.
