Pasadena's underrated collection of museums and performance spaces open up their doors for free at this biannual art celebration. Take advantage of the free shuttle buses or hoof it between site-specific installations and local institutions such as the Norton Simon MuseumPacific Asia Museum and Pasadena Museum of California Art. And, of course, no arts fest would be complete without food trucks, often including local bricks-and-mortar Pie 'n Burger and Coolhaus.

Pasadena's museums don't receive as much attention as some of LA's other major institutions, so this biannual event is a great way to show off Pasadena's artwork and sense of community. The Norton Simon Museum and the PMCA are usually must-visits, and the event is often a great excuse to scope out Art Center's Hillside Campus. You're best off walking between close locations if you can, though the free shuttle is much appreciated. My one wish is that the event ran later; by the time I'm home from work, I only have a few hours to visit as many museums as possible.
