She carried FDR across the Atlantic Ocean during WWII, and nearly 60 years later the USS Iowa found herself docked in San Pedro as a museum. The Iowa is a treat to have in SoCal. Whether you go during one of its major events or you go on a random day, it's interesting walk on the ship and learn its history. Just being on a ship that large and getting up close and personal with it is interesting, especially for little kids. The ship has increased its entertainment value by putting on concerts aboard the ship and various other events, which makes going even more fun and worthwhile.
